How long is the Machu Picchu day tour by train from Cusco?
It is a full-day tour: you leave Cusco before dawn, board the train at Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, take the bus up to the citadel, and visit Machu Picchu with a guide for about 2.5 hours. You are back in Cusco the same night, around 8:00–9:30 pm.
What does the one-day Machu Picchu tour include?
It includes transfer from Cusco to Ollantaytambo, round-trip train to Aguas Calientes, the bus up and down to the citadel, the Machu Picchu entrance ticket, and a professional guide. Lunch and the Huayna Picchu entrance are not included — Huayna Picchu must be booked separately, well in advance.
How far in advance should I book Machu Picchu?
Book early. Machu Picchu tickets have a limited daily quota per circuit, and in high season (June to August) they sell out weeks ahead. We recommend booking at least 2–4 weeks in advance; for Huayna Picchu, 2–3 months ahead.
Is Machu Picchu suitable for children and older adults?
Yes. The citadel sits at 2,430 meters — lower than Cusco — and while the circuits include stairs, they are walked at an easy pace. Families with kids and older travelers visit every day; tell us the ages in your group and we will choose the most comfortable circuit.
