Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LIMA AND RECEPTION
Upon your arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, you will connect to the Alfredo Rodríguez Ballón International Airport in Arequipa where a representative from Andean Treks Machupicchu will cordially receive you and provide the necessary assistance. Afterwards, you will be transferred to your hotel so you can rest and adjust to the local time.
The rest of the day will be free for you to relax and enjoy your first impressions of the White City.
DAY 2: AREQUIPA – CHIVAY
Breakfast at the Hotel
07:00am to 07:30am approx. – Pick-up from hotels in downtown Arequipa.
08:00am approx. – We begin our journey to one of the deepest and most beautiful canyons in the world. Our operation point will be the town of Chivay, which we will reach in approximately 04 hours, including all tourist stops. Our first point will be Pampa Cañahuas, where we can appreciate the vicuñas that inhabit this area. Nearby, we will visit Patahuasi to have the traditional Mate de coca, an essential traditional drink for altitude sickness (soroche). Then we will also make a short stop at the Bofedales de Toccra where we will observe a large number of Alpacas grazing freely in the area. A mandatory stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes, the highest point of the road reaching 4800 m a.s.l., from where we can appreciate a large part of the western mountain range. From this point, it will only take 40 minutes to reach the town of Chivay.
12:30pm – We will arrive in Chivay to enjoy a delicious lunch (paid by the passenger). After lunch, we will check into our respective hotels. During the afternoon, we can enjoy a relaxing bath in the Hot Springs (Optional entrance paid by the client) whose thermo-medicinal waters range between 35º C and 38º C in the pools.
For dinner (paid by the passenger) we can enjoy a Folkloric Show with typical dances of the area.
Overnight in Chivay.
DAY 3: CHIVAY – AREQUIPA – CUSCO
Breakfast at the hotel.
After breakfast, we will transfer to the Mirador de la Cruz del Cóndor, which is 01 hour away. It is the observation point of the Colca Canyon and the spectacular flight of the Condor. At this point, we will stay for an average of 45 minutes to observe the beauty of the Colca Canyon.
On the way back, we will stop at the viewpoints of the area from where we will observe the impressive Andenería del Valle and in the town of Maca, where we will see its church and optionally taste local drinks such as Colca Sour, made from local products.
12:00pm – Lunch in Chivay. (paid by the client)
01:00pm – We will return fully to the city of Arequipa. If on the first day of our tour we did not visit some point on the way to Chivay, on the return we can make a stop to complete all the tourist stops, depending on the weather and the group.
05:00pm approx. – We will arrive in the city of Arequipa. You will have free time to have dinner (paid by the passenger) and then go to the bus station.
9:00pm – We will be arriving at the sleeper bus (Cruz del Sur or similar).
DAY 4: ARRIVAL IN CUSCO – CITY TOUR
A representative of our agency will be waiting at the bus station holding a sign with the passenger’s name, to transfer you to your hotel in the city of Cusco. You will have the morning free to rest or visit some nearby points of the city and taste the local gastronomy (paid by the passenger). In the afternoon, we will continue with our:
CITY TOUR IN CUSCO
At 12:40 hrs we will start the City Tour in Cusco, visiting the main attractions of the city and the nearby archaeological complexes. We will begin in the historic center, exploring the imposing Cathedral of Cusco, of Renaissance style and with valuable paintings from the Cusco School. Then we will visit Qoricancha or Temple of the Sun, one of the most sacred temples of the Inca Empire.
Subsequently, we will head to the four archaeological complexes that surround the city: Sacsayhuamán, a majestic fortress built with enormous stone blocks; Qenqo, a ceremonial center dedicated to the cult of the Puma; Pucapucara, an ancient military fortress known as the “red fortress”; and Tambomachay, a temple dedicated to the cult of water.
We will return to the city of Cusco between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m.

DAY 5: SACRED VALLEY VIP + CONNECTION WITH MACHU PICCHU
Breakfast at the Hotel.
We will start the tour with pick-up from your hotel at 06:30 a.m. to head by tourist transport to the town of Chinchero, famous for its Inca and colonial legacy, where we will visit its craft market and traditional textile center. From there we will continue to the impressive circular agricultural terraces of Moray and the fascinating Maras salt mines, unique for their salt ponds in the middle of the valley.
At noon we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch in Urubamba and then transfer to Ollantaytambo, where we will explore its imposing archaeological complex and its stone streets that still retain the Inca essence. Afterwards, we will go to the train station to board the train to Aguas Calientes. During the journey, we will admire the landscape of the Vilcanota River and the majestic mountains of the Sacred Valley.
Upon our arrival in Aguas Calientes, the accommodation staff will receive you at the station and accompany you to your hotel. At night, the guide will meet with you to give the final instructions and coordinate the departure time to Machu Picchu the next day.

DAY 6: MACHU PICCHU
Breakfast at the hotel.
Very early in the morning after breakfast, we will head to the bus station which will take us to the Machu Picchu citadel. There, our guide will start the guided tour so that you can better learn about the history and architecture of the Inca City of Machu Picchu. You will be amazed by the Inca constructions and temples, as well as the natural environment that surrounds them. You will have free time to explore the Machu Picchu complex on your own and take many photos.
In the afternoon we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes where you will have free time to have lunch (paid by the passenger). At the indicated time, we will go to the train station to board our train that will take us to the Ollantaytambo station, where our transport will be waiting to transfer you to the city of Cusco (arrival point at San Francisco square).

DAY 7: ATVS IN THE RED VALLEY + RAINBOW MOUNTAIN + CONNECTION WITH PUNO
Breakfast at the Hotel.
We begin the experience with pick-up from your accommodation in Cusco, between 04:00 and 04:20 hrs, to then head to the district of Cusipata, where you will enjoy an American breakfast at a local restaurant.
After breakfast, we continue by tourist transport for another hour until reaching Japura, the base point where the ATVs are located. Here, the guide will give a brief induction and driving practice before starting the ATV route. The 30-minute tour crosses impressive high Andean landscapes, passing through the Huaynalaya area until reaching Lauramani, our second base.
From this point, we will take a walk of approximately 30 minutes, crossing the stunning Red Valley until reaching the natural viewpoint of the Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca). The guide will explain about the place and you will have time to enjoy, take photos, and connect with this unique landscape.
Then, we return along the same ATV route to Japura. We will board our tourist bus to go to Cusipata where you will enjoy a semi-buffet lunch. Then we return to the city of Cusco, where the tour concludes approximately at 18:00 hrs at Plaza Regocijo.
Then we return to the Hotel to get ready to take the transport that will take us to Puno.
9:00pm Sleeper bus Cusco – Puno (8 hours journey)
DAY 8: UROS FLOATING ISLANDS – AMANTANI – TAQUILE
A representative of our travel agency will be waiting for you at the bus station, then you will have time to have breakfast (paid by the passenger)
7:00 a.m. We head to the main dock.
7:40 a.m. We will board our boat.
8:00 am. We will begin our tour with a journey of approximately 30 minutes. Here we can appreciate the natural beauty of the Sacred Lake of the Incas, where its inhabitants are characterized by preserving their culture and customary and traditional beliefs.
12:30 p. m. Arrival at the island of Amantaní. We will be received by local families with a warm welcome, then we will settle into the rural houses and share a delicious typical lunch from the island.
2:30 p. m. After lunch, we will meet at the indicated point to start the hike towards the ceremonial temples of Pachamama and Pachatata. From this privileged place, we will enjoy a beautiful sunset, with views of the snow-capped mountains of Bolivia. We will live a unique experience accompanied by typical dances and local traditions.
6:30 p. m. Dinner at the family houses.
8:00 p. m. Dance gathering in typical costumes, accompanied by local residents.
Overnight in Amantani.
DAY 9: AMANTANI -TAQUILE – PUNO
7:00 a. m. Breakfast at the family houses.
8:30 a. m. Boat trip to the island of Taquile.
9:30 a. m. During the navigation, we can appreciate the natural beauty of the Sacred Lake of the Incas. Upon arriving at Taquile, we will learn about its ancestral culture, characterized by preserving its traditional beliefs and customs, reflected in its rites, religion, and typical dress. We will visit the rural houses, the pre-Hispanic arches, and ascend the 550 steps.
1:30 p. m. Return by boat to the city of Puno.
3:20 p. m. Arrival in Puno.
We will have the afternoon free in Puno to visit the main square and have lunch (paid by the passenger)

DAY 10: PUNO – LA PAZ
5:00 a.m. Pick-up from the hotel to transfer you to the bus terminal.
5:45 a.m. The bus departs for La Paz.
12:45 p.m. Arrival in the city of La Paz.
A representative of our agency will be waiting for you at the bus terminal to transfer you to the office so you can leave your things and have free time for lunch (paid by the passenger)

City Tour in La Paz
A 4-hour tour
Visit to Plaza Murillo, where you can see the Government Palace, the National Congress, and the Metropolitan Cathedral. Continue to the Witches’ Market, a traditional space where ritual products and Andean handicrafts are sold. Afterwards, a panoramic tour through traditional neighborhoods and main avenues of the city. Ascent to the modern La Paz Cable Car system, from where you get a panoramic view of the city and the plateau of El Alto. Finally, visit the Valley of the Moon, a natural geological formation characterized by its eroded and unique landscapes, resulting from the action of wind and rain over time.
6:00 p.m. We end the tour.
We will go to the bus station; you will have free time to have dinner (paid by the passenger)
9:00 p.m. We board our sleeper bus to head to Uyuni.
Journey La Paz – Uyuni (9 hours)
DAY 11: UYUNI – SAN JUAN
6:00 am approx. Arrival in Uyuni.
A representative of our agency will be waiting at the bus station, to transfer you to the office where you will have free time to have breakfast (paid by the passenger)
10:00 am. Meeting at our Uyuni office and at 10:30 am. Departure on our tour to the largest Salt Desert, in a vehicle (Land Cruiser – 4×4). Along the way, we will visit the following tourist attractions:
Train Cemetery.- Where you can see very old trains and locomotives dating from the late nineteenth century.
The town of Colchani.- Located on the shores of the great Salt Flat, it is the main entrance to the salt desert where we will observe the activity of salt extraction in an artisanal way. The locals will teach us the drying, grinding, and bagging process ready for consumption.
Salt Hotel.- Located in the heart of the Salt Flat, built with salt blocks, both externally and internally, as well as its walls, floors, beds, tables, and chairs, all made of salt. It stopped operating as a hotel a few years ago, but today it can be visited as a museum.
Incahuasi Island (Fish Island).- Located in the middle of the salt desert, it is a rocky formation where there is a great variety of giant cacti with heights exceeding 10 meters. From the top, you can contemplate the wonderful landscape of the Salt Flat.
After our visit to the island, we will have lunch and in the afternoon we will continue enjoying this dazzling white mantle of the Salt Flat. In the late afternoon, we will continue our journey to the town of San Juan where we will have dinner and spend the night in family houses.
DAY 12: SAN JUAN – LAGUNA COLORADA – HUAYLLAJARA
Breakfast in family houses.
After breakfast, we will continue our adventure heading to Laguna Colorada. Along the way, we will cross the Chiguana salt flat, a small salt flat in formation. Afterwards, we will make a stop to observe the active Ollague volcano from a distance. We will visit the lagoons of Cañapa, Hedionda, Chiarcota, and Honda. These lagoons are populated by flamingos.
At midday, we stop along the way to have lunch, and in the afternoon, we continue our tour passing through the Siloli desert where we will see an interesting rock formation known as the Stone Tree. Continuing our journey, we will arrive at Laguna Colorada, located in the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Park. The red color of its waters is due to red sediments and pigments from some types of algae and plankton, but it does not always maintain the same color due to variations in the characteristics of its waters as well as daylight and weather. In this lagoon, we can also see Andean flamingos. In the late afternoon, we will continue for another 15 minutes until we reach the Huayllajara lodge where we will spend the night.
DAY 13: LAGUNA COLORADA – GEYSERS – LAGUNA VERDE – UYUNI
This day we will leave very early for our tour (05:00 am). To appreciate the:
Geysers – fumaroles (volcanic zone – geothermal sources), better known as “Sol de Mañana”. This place will be the highest point on the route, near 5 thousand meters a.s.l., the cold is intense.
Then we will continue to the hot springs – Polques de Chalviri, (Optional entrance, paid by the passenger) and also in this place we will have breakfast to then cross the Salvador Dalí desert until reaching the “Blanca and Verde” Lagoons located at the foot of the Licancabur volcano, at an altitude of 4,350 m a.s.l. The green color is due to the high magnesium content of the geological formations in the area, but the intensity of the green color of the water will depend on the wind. The Licancabur Volcano is the natural landmark that indicates the border between Bolivia and Chile, after our stop at the green lagoon.
We will return to Uyuni and have lunch along the way.
We will continue our journey passing through the Valley of Rocks and typical towns of Villa Alota – Kulpinaka – San Cristóbal. We will also observe a large number of llamas and vicuñas. Arrival in the town of Uyuni in the late afternoon.
We will go to the bus station and have free time to have dinner (paid by the passenger)
9:00 pm Departure from Uyuni – La Paz
DAY 14: END OF SERVICES AND FAREWELL
7:00 am. Arrival in La Paz.
7:30 am or 3:00 pm. (time of choice): Bus La Paz – Puno (6 hours journey)
At the time of arrival, our transport will be waiting to take you to Juliaca Airport to take a flight to the city of Lima – Peru.
Our team will punctually transfer you to the airport or bus terminal for your return trip. This is the time to say goodbye, taking with you unforgettable memories, new friendships, and the magic of the Andes.
